What dentist should I see in New York for my child with special needs?
If you’re a parent of a child with special needs, you’re likely anxious yourself about the stress and anxiety a dental visit can cause your child. Perhaps you’re concerned about how they’ll react to even a basic cleaning – or sitting still for an extended period of time during another type of essential treatment.
At Park Smiles NYC Pediatrics, our caring and compassionate team has years of extensive training and experience working with special needs children. Not only do we offer an understanding of your child’s emotional and behavioral needs, but we also offer an array of state-of-the-art tools to help provide a stress-free and pain-free experience.
Would you treat my child who has a severe anxiety disorder?
YES. In fact, many children we see have anxiety disorders or ADHD that makes it more difficult for them to sit still in a dental chair. Special needs can mean anything from a physical disability or handicap to anxiety disorders and/or ADHD. Whether a child has developmental disorders, physical disabilities or behavioral and emotional needs – our caring team at Park Smiles NYC Pediatrics offers a calming atmosphere with the latest tools to provide a safe and stress-free experience.Sedation dentistry is one of those tools we use to help children (and adults) with anxiety issues.
How safe is sedation dentistry for my special needs child?
Under the close supervision and guidance of your child’s dentist and pediatric anesthesiologist, his or her comfort and safety — and your peace-of-mind — are our top priorities. Before administering any form of sedation, we carefully assess the unique needs of your child and thoroughly discuss the options with you, including oral sedation, I.V. sedation or nitrous oxide. You can rest assured that our experienced pediatric anesthesiologist and dentist will work together to maximize the safety and comfort of your child.
For your added convenience and peace-of-mind, we have a state-of-the-art operating room in our office, which is accredited by the American Association for Accreditation of Ambulatory Surgery Facilities (AAAASF)– just like any accredited hospital or outpatient surgery center. In addition, we have an anesthesia machine to perform General Anesthesia when required.
Enjoy the convenience of a multi-specialty practice under one roof in one sitting!
Our skilled team – including pediatric dentists, orthodontist, periodontist, pediatric anesthesiologists and oral surgeon – work in the same office, so there’s no need to be referred elsewhere if your child needs a specialist. All procedures are done in the convenience and comfort of our state-of-the-art office in the heart of Manhattan.
